Most tooth extractions are performed at the dental office of Dr. Nagle without the need for referral to a specialist. There are many reasons why a tooth may require extraction such as extensive trauma, decay, or infection.
What Does the Extraction Process Involve?
The first step in determining tooth extraction is to take radiographs of the tooth to view the condition of the surrounding bone as well as the positioning of the tooths roots under the gum line. These radiographs help guide Dr. Nagle to plan an effective tooth removal strategy.
Prior to the extraction, the patient will be given a local or general anesthetic to ensure that the procedure will be as comfortable and painless as possible. Once the extraction has taken place, gauze is applied to gradually stop the bleeding or in some cases, stitches may be given so the gums can heal quickly.
